Abstract
Paediatric patient safety is a clinical priority, although research specifically focused on developmental age remains fragmented. This article analyses medical error - defined as the failure of a planned action or the adoption of an inadequate plan - through the examination of five clinical cases. The analysis reveals how cognitive biases, ineffective communication, the underestimation of parental concerns and the fragmentation of responsibility are critical determinants in the diagnostic-therapeutic process. This work emphasises that, alongside technical competence, it is essential to promote an organisational culture based on a critical analysis and a multidisciplinary approach. The sharing of adverse experiences emerges as a fundamental tool for reducing the recurrence of errors and ensuring excellence in paediatric care.
