Abstract
A feverish 15 months baby with gastroenteritis was referred
to the Emergency Room because of prolonged seizures started
15 before access to hospital. Venous access proved impossible and
despite of two administrations of rectal diazepam, seizures continued
for more than 80. The resolution of his status epilepticus became
possible only when an intraosseous access was established allowing
the infusion of midazolam. The gastroenteritis was further
complicated by hypernatremic dehydration. Seizures management,
intraosseous access and hypernatremic dehydration are discussed.
