Abstract
We studied 62 children who were hospitalised at “Centro Grandi
Ustionati” from 1995 to 1998. Pre-schoolers usually burn during
the daytime (100%), when at home (97%) and with boiling liquids
(90%), mainly water. Schoolers usually burn with flames (76%),
mainly alcohol, and often when not at home (28%). For schoolers
the main etiologic factors are the children’s personal characteristics
(liveliness to hyperactivity), whereas for pre-schoolers the main
causes are family problems.
