Abstract
Various factors can influence the prescripitons of paediatricians.
Among these, diagnostic uncertainties and pressure from
parents are prominent. The Authors carried out a study on this
subject among 276 practicing paediatricians and 2567 mothers.
The paediatricians reported that 63% of the mothers did ask for medication,
while only 10% of the mothers admitted having done so.
Although most mothers expressed their satisfaction about the duration
of the visit and the information that was provided, the Authors
conclude that paediatricians should further improve their communication
skills
