Abstract
An evaluation was made of a nutritional mix based on
traditional food at the pediatric nutrition Unit at St. Mary's Hospital
in Lacor, Uganda. 96 children with severe malnutrition were given a
food mixture to complement the Unicef formula. The use of the lowcost
mixture compared favourably with the use of the Unicef formula
alone in terms of weight gain and short-term mortality.
