Abstract
Rhabdomyolysis is the common final pathway of different processes that lead to the destruction of skeletal muscle and release of cellular contents in plasma; it is defined as serum creatine kinase (CK) level five times above normal in the absence of myocardial infarction. In the paediatric population the most common causes of rhabdomyolysis are viral infections and traumas. The striated muscle repair mechanism is rapid and effective and the prognosis is excellent; the extent of complications in the acute phase is highly dependent on the etiology of the damage, early diagnosis and therapy. We report three cases of rhabdomyolysis from different etiology.
