Abstract
This article comes from the text “A guide for physicians for evaluation of the sexually abused
child” written by the Italian Group for Child Abuse. The article discusses the essential
prerequisites for physicians, working in medical offices and hospitals, who find themselves
having to evaluate a child suspected of being the victim of sexual abuse in order to provide
scientific support, to systematize the procedures of the medical examination, and to reduce
the risk of error.
