Abstract
The Italian Parliament is elaborating a law project regarding the recognition and the teaching
of 8 so-called “non conventional” medicines, including homoeopathy, and of 6 non
conventional medical therapies, including pranotherapy, in name of a “scientific pluralism”
and of “the need to harmonize the fundamental principles established by the legislations
in the different European countries”. These reasons appear to be unfounded and they
sound like a pretext, since some of the proposals contained in the law project are clearly
in contrast with the common shared knowledge. The paper shortly analyses the history of
homoeopathy, the history of its principles, the feasibility of this medicine inside a culture
continuously referring to the evidence based medicine (EBM) and underlines the contradiction
between this culture and the still insufficient results obtained from the controlled
clinical experimentation of the homoeopathic therapies.
