Abstract
Following an initial analysis of the phenomenon of separations in Italy, this article reports
a study on the psychosocial impact of parental separation on children, highlights
the importance of the role of paediatricians in the early detection of potentially harmful
situations for the well-being of children, the relationship and communication with their
families and underlines what is appropriate to derive from the scientific evidence on the
subject for an effective management.
