Abstract
Paediatric palliative care aims to improve the quality of life of patients with diseases for which there is no reasonable hope of cure, and their families, throughout the trajectory of illness and to alleviate the symptoms, discomfort and stress of children experiencing life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. The definitions of paediatric palliative care contain key words and concepts that can usefully be adopted in the paediatrician’s communication and clinical background to care for complex patients and network with all other involved professionals.

Le cure palliative pediatriche mirano a migliorare la qualità di vita dei pazienti, con patologie per le quali non c’è ragionevole speranza di guarigione, e delle loro famiglie, durante tutta la traiettoria di malattia e hanno l’obbiettivo alleviare i sintomi, il disagio e lo stress dei bambini che vivono condizioni che minacciano o limitano la vita. Le definizioni di cure palliative pediatriche contengono parole chiave e concetti che possono essere utilmente adottati nel bagaglio comunicativo e clinico del pediatra, per poter affrontare pazienti complessi e lavorare in rete con tutti gli altri attori coinvolti.
