Abstract
Internet addiction and, more specifically, Internet gaming disorder is a pathological condition, recently defined, particularly prevalent in adolescence. The article describes this form of behavioural addiction by analysing its temporal roots, predisposing factors and clinical features; finally, it focuses on some advice that, conveyed by the paediatrician, may reach families who feel the need to limit their children’s use of digital devices, intervening before a full-blown disorder is structured.
